Standard Costume Hire Terms & Conditions

  1. It is assumed that customers have read, understood and agreed to the listed conditions of hire. A signature will be required upon collection along with your contact details.

  2. **Please do NOT just turn up for viewing or collection - appointment MUST be made at least 24 hours before.

  3. All of our costumes are for hire on COLLECTION ONLY basis and must be returned within 72 hours otherwise extra charges will be added.


  5. All costumes remain the property of Calvella Costumes.

  6. Card payments and cheques are not accepted for costume deposits or payments - ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE IN CASH.

  7. The named contact on the agreement has the sole responsibility for the costume until the costume is returned to Calvella Costumes premises

  8. No refunds will be issued once a costume has been booked and taken from the premises.

  9. Any changes to a booking will require at least 48 hours notice and changes subject to other costume being available.

  10. Costumes cannot be changed once they have left the shop premises.

  11. If a costume has been booked and subsequently damaged by a third party before your hire date, we will offer a comparable replacement or refund.

  12. Customers should check their costume thoroughly and advise the shop of any damage, marks, or items missing. A message can be left on the answer phone. Any damage to the costume will be charged to the hirer.

  13. Customers wear Calvella Costumes outfits, shoes, and accessories at their own risk and are hired as seen.

  14. Costumes must be returned on the day specified on the hire agreement, and returned within normal opening times. Failure to do so will result in a £5 per day surcharge.

  15. Customers must not wash costumes or tumble dry any wet item.

  16. Customers must not attach sticky labels or badges to any part of the costume.

  17. Customers must not pin, sew, glue or iron any costumes that are hired.

  18. Part or all of the deposit will be forfeit or the cost or replacement charged if;

    1. A costume is returned beyond reasonable repair.

    2. The costume is returned needing specialised cleaning.

    3. The costume is returned with permanent damage, i.e. cigarette burns, wine stains, holes, etc.

    4. The costume is returned with one or more items missing.

    5. Any modifications have been carried out on the costume.

    6. The costume is returned with blood (or other body fluids).

    7. The costume is not returned to Calvella Costumes for whatever reason
